EN 60204-1 Common Errors

Safe Machine have published EN 60204-1 Common Errors, a White Paper EN 60204-1 for machine builders and panel builders – a guide to avoiding common errors. Written mainly by Paul Skyrme before his untimely death from prostate cancer in 2023, it identifies many of the common errors found when assessing machinery electrical control panels.

It indicates that many panel builders do not follow EN 60204-1 when building panels and do not meet the minimum requirements of CE, UK CA marking requirements and also PUWER in the UK.

The aim is for end users to understand common errors, and for panel builders to build compliant panels.

EN 60204-1:2018, the current version, can be purchased from any standards agency. EVS is the Estonian Standards Agency. EN 60204-1.

When buying standards from EVS, make sure you buy the correct language version. Three are usually the same price as two, and multi copies have less security, so are more useable. Three copies are generally in the region of Thirty Euro.

Standards can be added to a list so you are notified when standards change.
