Hold Tech Files is exhibiting on Stand 142 at Machine Building Live on 2nd October 2024. Visit the stand to find out about the need for an EU Authorised Representative when exporting machinery and other products to the EU. Derek Coulson, a Director of Hold Tech Files, will also be exploring this topic at one of the event’s workshop sessions.
A key thrust of Hold Tech Files’ message concerns the legal requirement for UK manufacturers to have an Economic Operator in the EU for compliance with EU Regulation 2019/1020 on market surveillance. In most cases, the simplest and lowest-cost option is to appoint an Authorised Representative (EUAR) who is based in the EU.
Furthermore, UK machine builders need to name someone on the Declaration of Conformity (DoC) who is authorised to compile the Technical File, and this person must be established in the EU.
As well as these two important administrative issues, Derek Coulson can also talk to machine builders about the practicalities of complying with the European Commission’s Regulation (EU) 2019/1781. Often referred to as the ecodesign Regulation, this impacts almost any machine builder exporting to the EU if the machinery incorporates electric motors or variable-speed drives (VSDs).
Visitors to Stand 142 can have one-to-one discussions with Derek Coulson either before or after attending his presentation at 14:00.
Hold Tech Files Ltd is based in the Republic of Ireland and can act as an Authorised Representative for machine builders located outside the EU.
In addition, Hold Tech Files can be named on a machine DoC as the person authorised to compile the Technical File. The company has created a simple self-service online portal where machine builders can sign a mandate, pay a fee and upload relevant files to a secure server. This entitles the machine builder to name Hold Tech Files on the DoC for up to ten years.
